Aloha Airlines appoints Bethune as new chairman

Advertiser Staff

Aloha Airlines said today it appointed former Continental Airlines chief executive officer Gordon Bethune as its new chairman.

Bethune will head Aloha's nine-member board, which includes the airline's Chief Executive David Banmiller, local shareholders Sonny Ching and Richard Ing and five representatives from Yucaipa Companies, which acquired the company and brought it out of bankruptcy protection in February.

Bethune served as Continental's chief executive officer from 1994 to 2004. Under his leadership, Continental was rated by Fortune Magazine's as one of the country's top 50 most admired companies.
