Titans' offensive coordinator
Norm Chow

Norm Chow is the only graduate of a Hawai'i high school (Punahou School) coaching in the National Football League. Chow, a former Waialua High coach, is in his second season as offensive coordinator of the Tennessee Titans after coaching four Heisman Trophy winners in college: Ty Detmer (Brigham Young) and Carson Palmer, Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush (Southern California).

What is the path to becoming an NFL coach? How would you advise somebody else from Hawai'i who would like to follow in those footsteps?

"When I was younger, a coach told me once there are two kinds of assistant coaches. One that aspires to be a head coach. And, the other that is willing to work at his job and do the best he can do and one is not better than the other. There's room for both coaches.

"Keep your head down, work like heck and good things will happen. And, that's what I did. I don't think you need to sit around aspiring to something you don't have. Work as hard as you can at the job you have and something good will happen."
