Wilson Elementary locked down as police hunt auto suspect

By Peter Boylan
Advertiser Staff Writer

Honolulu police have locked down Wilson Elementary School on Kilauea Avenue near Kahala Mall and surrounded Star of the Sea school in an attempt to locate and arrest an auto theft suspect whom police believe is armed.

Crime Reduction Unit officers are searching the grounds of both schools with guns drawn while the police helicopter hovers overhead.

An auto theft suspect who evaded police ditched a stolen car and ran onto the school grounds, police said.
