Lenn Sakata and Mike Lum, former big leaguers with ties to Hawai'i, will be on the coaching staffs of the revived Hawai'i Winter Baseball, the league announced.

The off-season developmental league opens Oct. 2 with the Sharks playing the BeachBoys, 7 p.m. at Les Murakami Stadium.

The league ran from 1993 to 1997 and boasted an alumni who include Ichiro Suzuki of the Seattle Mariners, Jason Giambi of the New York Yankees, Todd Helton of the Colorado Rockies and Saint Louis School and Hawai'i Pacific University alumnus Benny Agbayani of the Chiba Lotte Marines.

The BeachBoys and Sharks will be based out of Murakami Stadium, while the Honu and CaneFires will play their home games at Hans L'Orange Park in Waipahu.

For season tickets, call 973-7247 or check out the league's Web site at www.hawaiiwinterbaseball.com. Season ticket holders will be provided a special key chain that acts as the traditional paper ticket. Individual tickets range from $3 to $6 at Murakami and $2 to $5 at Hans L'Orange.
