Lingle to attend Kaua'i mayor's inauguration ceremony

Advertiser Staff

Governor Linda Lingle will be on Kaua'i this afternoon for the inauguration ceremony of Kaua'i mayor Bryan Baptiste.

The 1 p.m. ceremony will be at the Kaua'i War Memorial Convention Hall and culminates one of the tightest races in this year's state elections.

It wasn't until three days after the September primary that the Kaua'i County Clerk was able to declare that Baptiste had received one more vote than necessary to win re-election. The win was reaffirmed by the Hawai'i Supreme Court in October following challenges by two opponents.

This is Baptiste's second term as mayor.
