Filipino groups collecting donations for typhoon relief

The Filipino Community Center and the Bicol Club are teaming up to raise donations for relief efforts in the wake of Typhoon Durian, which yesterday tore through the Bicol region of the Philippines.

At least 198 people were killed and 260 were missing, The Associated Press quoted the Philippines Office of Civil Defense as saying. Another 130 were injured.

Tax-deductible donations in response to the typhoon may be dropped off at the Filipino Community Center from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day. Or they can be mailed to:
