SATURDAY SCOOPS
On the Spot improv adds new dimension of yule

 •  DVDs: Past, present and some alternatives

Advertiser Staff

That very busy improv group On the Spot turns its attention to the holidays with "A Pa'ina Christmas," a full-length production — improvised, of course — that starts as a yule party and turns quickly toward the supernatural.

Featured players are Robb Bonnell, Rod Cachola, Chris Riel, Shawn Thomsen, Danel Verdugo and On the Spot leader Garrick Paikai.

Showtime is 8 p.m. today at The ARTS at Marks Garage. Tickets are $14 general, $10 students; available a hour before the show. www.honoluluboxoffice.com, 550-8457.

Mark your calendars for more improv:

  • Loose Screws takes a turn at Marks Garage Friday and Dec. 9 with "Sell Out," about the commercialism of the season. Bring your product or service to be plugged by the troupe for what's called "a small additional fee." 8 p.m. each day; $14, $10.

  • And Elizabeth Wolfe brings back her one-woman improv show, "Lone Wolfe and Company," 8 p.m. Dec. 15-16 at Marks Garage. $5.
