The Army air service announced on Dec. 2, 1920, that an aviation field in the Philippines is being named after Maj. Harold Clark. He was one of the Army's first aviators to be stationed in Honolulu. The Advertiser reported he was the first flier to land in Honolulu Harbor and at Waikiki Beach.

1900: Kawaiaha'o Church celebrates its 75th anniversary. The Pacific Commercial Advertiser noted the foundation of the church was laid on the first Sunday of December in 1825.

1909: Queen Lili'uokalani establishes the Lili'uokalani Trust.

1919: In the second day of its session, the Japanese labor convention discusses an increase in wages, elimination of the bonus system, shortening of working hours and better terms for small growers and cane contractors.

1969: Heavy surf pounds the North Shore for a second day, but waves were about 25 feet high, compared with 50 feet the previous day.

1957: Four Air Force pilots complete the first nonstop jet flight from Tokyo to Honolulu in 6 hours, 28 minutes.

2002: Nearly 600 nurses at Kuakini and St. Francis medical centers go out on strike.
