The Spa at Wailea wins top honors

Advertiser Staff and News Services

The Spa at Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea has been named "Top Destination Spa" in the U.S. by Zagat Guide's 2007 Survey of U.S. Hotels, Resorts and Spas. The Resort also received "No. 2 Top Resort" with more than 100 rooms.

The Spa's unique island atmosphere and luxurious pampering were considered best by the travel and restaurant guide based on the personal experiences of 14,461 frequent travelers and 936 travel professionals who rated and reviewed 1,011 of the best places to stay in the United States, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Reservations: (800) 332-3442, or www.fourseasons.com/maui.

PREPARE YOUR PALATES: Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa's "Food Network Package" includes one night accommodations at the resort, a four-course menu for two at Bali by the Sea, and a tote bag containing the network's cookbook "How to Boil Water" and other gifts. The package begins at $459. Additional nights without dinner start at $229 per night. The package is available through March. Guests should make dinner reservations 10 days before arrival. Reservations: (800) 445-8667, www .hiltonhawaii.com.

SKI THE NET: Choosing a different ski resort this winter? Many Web sites now offer advance lift ticket sales and vacation package deals.

  • Lake Tahoe: Ski Lake Tahoe — www.skilaketahoe .com helps you book your hotel room and airline, and sells lift tickets before you're even packed. You can check conditions, trail maps and the pictures from live Web cams by clicking on links to the area's resorts — including Alpine Meadow and Squaw Valley — that have been welcoming skiers since 1949.

  • Utah: A little farther east is Utah, www.utah.com/ski, home of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association and the 2002 Winter Games. If the Sundance and Alta resorts aren't what you're looking for, try The Canyons, with its 17 lifts on eight mountains, or Solitude, where your kids can stay and ski for free. And click "Board" to see which areas welcome snowboards.

  • Colorado: Epic snow conditions arrived early in Colorado. At www.coloradoski.com, you can link to resorts from Arapahoe Basin to Vail, along with Buttermilk and Sunlight. Discover Colorado, www.discover colorado.com, has "Today's Deals" where you check for early winter discounts and other bargains.
