Jeffrey Minter, president and chief executive officer of UniDevHawaii, has been named chairman of the Honolulu Symphony board of directors, the symphony announced today.

Minter directs the development of about 2,000 units of affordable workforce and senior housing in the Islands. He has a long history of involvement in community-based nonprofit organizations and currently serves as treasurer on the Honolulu Symphony's board.

In addition, Rix Maurer III, vice president and chief financial officer and treasurer for The Queen's Medical Center, will take over the position of treasurer. He is also chair-elect and treasurer of Catholic Charities Hawaii. He has served on the boards of The Queen's Federal Credit Union, Young Life Hawaii and Seagull Schools.

"Jeff Minter and Rix Maurer share the love of music, belief in arts education and genuine dedication to our community, which makes them ideal leaders for the Honolulu Symphony — one of Hawai'i's most treasured arts organizations," said Tom Gulick, executive director of the Honolulu Symphony in a press release. "In addition, Jeff Minter brings finely-tuned business acumen and excellent leadership abilities to his role as Chairman of the Board. His extensive background in development, as well as his successful track record with UniDev and history of focused strategic planning, will serve him well as he guides the Symphony into its 107th season and beyond."

Minter joined UniDev LLC in 1999 as executive vice president. He was the Director of UniDev West Coast operations and projects, and development representative to the California State University community for the faculty and staff of the Channel Islands campus.
