Lingle, Aiona inauguration set for noon today

Advertiser Staff

Gov. Linda Lingle and Lt. Gov. James "Duke" Aiona are scheduled to be sworn in for a second four-year term at around noon today at a ceremony at the state Capitol rotunda.

Lingle and her procession are expected to pay respects at the statue of King Kamehameha and at 'Iolani Palace before arriving at the Capitol.

State Supreme Court Chief Justice Ronald Moon is expected to swear in the governor and lieutenant governor.

In her inaugural address, Lingle said she will likely talk about her vision for the next four years and her plans for working with the Democratic-controlled state Legislature.

A luncheon at Washington Place is planned for guests from the Neighbor Islands. Dinner and entertainment are scheduled for this evening on the grounds of 'Iolani Palace.
