Students will need to submit a 5-minute video that incorporates the theme, "Step back, take a breath and bring peace into your life."
First place will receive $500. The best 25-second public service announcement video will receive $250.
"With the violence in schools and elsewhere we see in the national news, we hope that this competition will direct some of Hawai'i students' great youthful energy to encourage more tranquility, fairness and hope in their own lives and the lives of students and others that see the winning films," said Rob Hale, President of the Rotary Club of Honolulu, in a press release.
Students from public, private, charter and home schools, in addition to after-school programs, are eligible to participate.
Winners will be selected by April 30, 2007, and winners announced at the Hawaii Student Film Festival in May 2007.
