Kenny Loggins, Rocky Brown among headliners in 'Return to Romance' festival

Mainland singers Kenny Loggins, Michael McDonald and Ruben Studdard, plus local faves Jordan Segundo, Nina Keali'iwahamana and Rocky Brown, have been added to the inaugural "Return to Romance" festivities March 1 to 11 in Honolulu.

Loggins and MacDonald are veteran pop singers, Studdard is a former "American Idol" winner. Segundo was Hawai'i's first "Idol" contestant to survive the preliminaries and Keali'iwahamana (Hawaiian) and Brown (jazz and pop) are veteran recording and nightlife performers.

The singers will join the Matt Catingub Orchestra of Hawai'i, which has recorded and released a "Return to Romance" CD, to add stardust to the roster in a celebration of the greatest love songs ever. Shows with themes such as "A Smooth Romance," "Romantic Jazz," "The Most Romantic Songs Ever Written...Part 1," "Hawaiian Wedding and Fireworks Spectacular" and "The Rhythm of Romance: From Motown to Nashville to Hollywood to O'ahu," will be staged at such venues as Blaisdell Arena, the Waikiki Shell, 'Iolani Palace and the Hawai'i Theatre, with the Catingub-directed 40-piece ensemble participating.
