High surf advisory for northern shores

Advertiser Staff

A high surf advisory is in effect for north-facing shores until 10 a.m. today, the National Weather Service said, and by tomorrow we could see monster surf in the 25-foot range.

The surf forecast calls for a large swell that will produce surf heights around the 25-foot warning level tomorrow night into Friday and an even larger northwest swell is anticipated this weekend.

The large swells are part of a series of moderate to large northwest swells moving through during the week.

The first swell peaked last night, with surf heights near the advisory level of 15 feet on north facing shores.

Today's forecast calls for surf along north-facing shores to build to 12 to 15 feet and decline to 8 to 12 feet by this afternoon.

Surf along west shores will build to 6 to 10 feet and decline to 5 to 8 feet by the afternoon.

Surf along east shores will be 3 to 6 feet and decline to 2 to 4 feet.

Surf along south shores will remain at 1 to 3 feet through today.
