Employees evacuated from 'Ewa Beach Foodland

Advertiser Staff

Firefighters evacuated about a dozen people from a Foodland supermarket in 'Ewa Beach this morning, including four complaining of fume inhalation.

"All of them were employees and none of them went to the hospital," said Fire Department spokesman Kenison Tejada.

A hazardous materials team and 'Ewa Beach firefighters were sent to the store about 4:50 a.m. The fumes seem to be emanating from an area where some painting work was done yesterday, Tejada said.

Firefighters ventilated the store and allowed employees to re-enter about 6 a.m., Tejada said.
