Kelly Hu runs marathon, hosts luau for Reef Check

Kelly Hu is hoping for a great final kick heading into Sunday's Honolulu Marathon.The 1985 Miss Teen USA, current film/TV star and Kamehameha graduate is raising money for Reef Check by running the 26.2 mile marathon in her hometown.
Hu writes on her Web site, www.Kellyhu.com, that her fans can sponsor her marathon run and all donations will go to Reef Check.
The film and television star plans to run in the 34th annual Honolulu Marathon with the guidance of legendary track and field Olympian Carl Lewis. Hu and Lewis will co-host a celebrity luau fundraiser for Reef Check Hawaii on Monday at the Sheraton Waikiki.
The Reef Check luau will be attended by celebrities from Hollywood and Japan, including Maggie Q, Greg German, Daniel Dae Kim, Jason Scott Lee, Kelly Slater, Jonathan Silverman, Lance Bass and Mario Lopez.
Reef Check Hawaii is an affiliate of the worldwide Reef Check Foundation, established in 1997. Working with local business, governments and communities, Reef Check develops solutions to help preserve reefs worldwide. Volunteer dive teams are active in over 80 countries and territories around the world.
As of last night, $14,687 had been pledged to support Hu's run. Her goal, the Web site said, is to raise $50,000.
Hu's movie appearances include "The Scorpion King," "Cradle 2 the Grave," and "X2. " Most recently, Hu was cast in the role of Kelly Lee in the ABC sitcom "In Case of Emergency."
Carl Lewis is a track and field athlete who won 10 Olympic medals and 10 World Championships medals. Lewis was also voted "Sportsman of the Century" by the International Olympic Committee and "Olympian of the Century" by Sports Illustrated.
