'Lost' won't battle 'American Idol' in 2007

Advertiser Staff

With the rise of CBS's "Criminal Minds," Fox's powerhouse "American Idol," and NBC's "Deal or No Deal" all going head-to-head on Wednesday nights next year, ABC is trying to make sure its own hit series doesn't get "Lost" in the shuffle.

For the third time in as many seasons, "Lost," filmed on O'ahu, is switching time slots. It will remain on Wednesday nights but its starting time is being pushed back and a comedy block will be put in its place, ABC Touchstone Television said.

The later start time means "Lost" will avoid going head-to-head with the "American Idol," results show and other networks' high-powered shows.

In the latest Nielsen Ratings released yesterday, "Criminal Minds" on CBS drew 17.92 million viewers; NBC's "Deal or No Deal," which will be moving to Wednesday's, drew 17.7 million viewers on Monday night.

"American Idol" starts its news season in January and "Lost" starts its new 16-episode season on Feb. 7.

ABC will pit "Knights of Prosperity" and "In Case of Emergency" — which stars Honolulu actress Kelly Hu — in the timeslot against "American Idol" and the other hit shows.
