The Hawaii Tourism Authority will launch a $400,000 campaign next year to market local festivals and events to visitors who have already arrived. The year-long campaign, which begins in January, will promote about 60 festivals via measures including hotel in-room television, magazines, an inflight message from Gov. Linda Lingle, radio, the Internet and a concierge program. The HTA already spends about $2 million to support various festivals and events in Hawai'i.
HTA officials said visitors are increasingly looking for authentic experiences, and that the campaign will point visitors toward more activities that connect them with residents.
