Jobless claims fall for 1st time in nine weeks

The number of initial jobless claims fell for the first time in nine weeks, according to state Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism data.There were 1,099 initial claims in the week ending Dec. 1, or 235 less than the similar 2005 period.
Hawai'i's unemployment rate was 2.1 percent in October, the lowest in the United States.
