USAA allows check deposits from home computers

USAA Federal Savings Bank, which has about 35,000 customers in Hawai'i, said it has adoped technology allowing customers to deposit checks with the use of a scanner and an Internet connection.

The bank said members who qualify will get software that allows them to use a scanner to capture images of the front and back of endorsed checks that are sent to the bank. Deposits that are received beffore 8 p.m. Central time on a business day are generally credited to an account that day.

"USAA is making banking easier and faster for USAA members, particularly those military members who may need to deposit checks from down the street or around the world," said Mike Luby, bank president in a news release.
