28,635 entries received for Honolulu Marathon

A total of 28,635 entries were received for Sunday's Honolulu Marathon, up nearly 600 from last year, a race official said Saturday night.The race starts at 5 a.m. from the Ala Moana/Queen Street extension and ends at Kapi'olani Park.
A total of 17,905 of the entries are from Japan, making up about 62.5 percent of the field.
Kenya's Jimmy Muindi will attempt to win his fourth Honolulu title in a row and sixth overall. Russia's Olesya Nurgalieva is the defending women's champion.
