High-surf advisory for north, west shores

Advertiser Staff

A high-surf advisory remains in effect for all west- and north-facing shores on O'ahu.

Surf along north-facing shores was expected to increase to 20 to 24 feet by this morning.

Surf along west-facing shores was expected to climb to 10 to 15 feet during the night.

Surf of 5 to 7 feet is expected today along east-facing shores while south shore beaches should see surf of 1 to 3 feet, according to the National Weather Service.

The longer-term outlook calls for the very large northwest swell that arrived Saturday night to gradually subside Monday night and Tuesday.

Another large northwest swell is expected to arrive by Wednesday afternoon. The surf produced by this swell likely will be above the high-surf advisory threshold from late Wednesday night through Thursday.
