Advertiser Staff

A total of 28,635 entries were received for today's Honolulu Marathon, up by nearly 600 from last year, a race official said last night.

The race started at 5 a.m. from the Ala Moana/Queen Street extension, and the route ended at Kapi'olani Park.

A total of 17,905 of the entries were from Japan, making up about 62.5 percent of the field.

Kenya's Jimmy Muindi won last year. Russia's Olesya Nurgalieva was the defending women's champion.
