Burning of the Zero Plane, Katsushige Nakahashi and his assistant and students have recreated a life-size replica, by taping over 25,000 photographs, of the Japanese Zero planes that bombed Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941 and subsequently crash-landed on Ni'ihau. At 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, the replica will be carried to the Hawai'i Hale lawn on the campus at UH-Manoa, site of a World War II bomb shelter, and burned to commemorate the crash and death of the Zero's pilot; free. 956-6888.
