Large northwest swell expected tomorrow

Advertiser Staff

The current northwest swell will gradually subside through today, according to the National Weather Service in Honolulu.

Surf along north-facing shores will decrease to 8 to 12 feet and surf along west-facing shores will decrease to heights of 4 to 8 feet today.

Surf along east-facing shores will be 3 to 6 feet. Surf along south-facing shores will be 1 to 3 feet.

Another large northwest swell is expected to arrive tomorrow afternoon, resulting in surf heights near the high-surf advisory threshold along north- and west-facing shores from late tomorrow through Thursday, according to the weather service. This swell will subside Friday.

Strong trade winds will stir up rough and choppy surf along east-facing shores this weekend. Increasing south swell is expected on Sunday.

Surf heights are forecast heights of the face or front of waves.
