10-YEAR SENTENCE FOR MAKING METH

A 44-year-old woman was sentenced yesterday by Senior U.S. District Judge Alan C. Kay to 10 years in federal prison for an Aug. 31 conviction of manufacturing crystal methamphetamine.

Holly Koliopoulos and her boyfriend, Steven Echols, were found guilty of manufacturing methamphetamine at their Mililani home.

The two ordered precursor chemicals, such as iodine, over the Internet and had them shipped to a mailbox rented by Echols in Kane'ohe.

On March 4, Koliopoulos retrieved a package containing 500 grams of iodine from the mailbox.

Federal prosecutors said that quantity of iodine could make more than 150 grams of methamphetamine.

Echols was sentenced earlier to 10 years in prison.
