Forecast calls for sunny skies, gentle winds

A high pressure weather system to the north of the islands will keep the trade winds blowing at light to moderate speeds today, according to the National Weather Service.

The winds will likely strengthen tomorrow and Friday and then weaken and turn more southeasterly by Sunday, forecasters said. Passing showers will increase gradually through the rest of the week.

Here's a more detailed look at what to expect over the next few days:

Today, partly sunny. Highs 77 to 83. East winds 10 to 15 mph.

Tonight, partly cloudy with isolated showers. Lows 65 to 71. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Thursday, mostly sunny. Highs 77 to 83. East winds 10 to 20 mph.

Thursday, partly cloudy with isolated showers. Lows 65 to 71. East winds 15 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Friday, mostly sunny. Breezy. Highs 77 to 83. East winds 15 to 25 mph.

Friday night, partly cloudy with isolated showers. Breezy. Lows 65 to 71. East winds 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.
