'70s surf icon Shaun Tomson to give talk in Hale'iwa tonight

By Catherine E. Toth
Advertiser Staff Writer

Surfing icon Shaun Tomson, who won the 1975 Pipeline Masters and was crowned world champion in 1977, will make a personal presentation tonight of his book and slide show "The Surfer's Code: 12 Simple Lessons for Riding Through Life" at the Patagonia Store in Hale'iwa. The free event starts at 7:30 p.m.

From years spent riding the world's best swells, Tomson has compiled a set of values, a "code" applicable not just to surfing, but to business, competition and personal relationships. Tomson's lessons are born of the collective wisdom of the surf community and are a powerful source of inspiration in the face of extraordinary challenges of every day life.
