Surf on the rise along north, west shores

Advertiser Staff

Surf is on the way up along O'ahu's north and west shores.

The National Weather Service forecast calls for surf with wave faces of 8 to 12 feet by this afternoon on the North Shore and 4 to 8 feet along west-facing shores.

Elsewhere, surf will run 3 to 6 feet along east-facing shores and and 1 to 3 feet along the south shore.

Another northwest swell is due in later this afternoon, resulting in surf heights near the high surf advisory threshold along north and west facing shores from later today into Thursday. Strong trade winds will stir up rough and choppy surf along east facing shores this weekend.

An out-of-season, increasing south swell is expected on Sunday.
