Sentencing for Schofield soldier to continue tomorrow

Advertiser Staff

Sentencing for Spc. Jeffery White, 22, in the murder of another Schofield Barracks soldier, Spc. Felicia LaDuke, has been continued to tomorrow at a courthouse on Wheeler Army Air Field.

White, of Houston, was found guilty Tuesday of the murder of LaDuke, 22, who was strangled and repeatedly run over with her own car on the night of Oct. 7, 2005, at a remote spot near Ka'ena Point.

According to trial testimony, White, who had married another woman, was involved in a bitter child custody battle with LaDuke over their young son, Elijah.

The mandatory minimum sentence for White is life with the possibility of parole after 20 years. He also could be sentenced to life without parole.

The seven-member military jury recessed at about 6:15 tonight and is expected to hear from final defense witnesses tomorrow morning, including White's father, Jarrod Brown.
