Hawaiian Telcom hires Alcatel-Lucent for upgrade

Advertiser Staff

Hawaiian Telcom has chosen Paris-based Alcatel-Lucent to provide network upgrades that will make it possible to offer new services.

Alcatel-Lucent essentially will provide the architecture needed to transform the phone company's network for the launch of new services such as Internet-based television. Hawai'i's major phone company plans to launch such a service in the second half of next year.

The upgrades "will allow us to provide more advanced services more quickly," said Hawaiian Telcom spokesman Dan Smith.
