Fire destroys building in Kea'au

A one-story building in Kea'au on the Big Island was gutted by fire last night and collapsed.
The fire, at 40th Avenue and Pohaku Drive, was reported about 10:40 p.m. Firefighters arrived at 11:06 p.m. and reported the blaze under control about a minute later.
The 20-by-30-foot structure, which was unoccupied, was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived at the scene.
A damage estimate and cause of the fire were not immediately available.
