Big, rough surf expected along eastern shores today
Advertiser Staff
A high surf advisory remains in effect for all east-facing shores on O'ahu and will likely continue through Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.Surf along the eastern shores was expected to climb during the night, reach 7 to 10 feet this morning.
Surf was expected to reach 5 to 8 feet today along the North Shore, 3 to 5 feet long west-facing shores and 1 to 3 feet along the south shore,
The longer-term outlook calls for surf to remain well below the advisory level on the North Shore into the middle of the new week.
However, increasing trade winds will generate very large and rough surf along east-facing shores beginning today. As a result, surf heights may approach the high surf warning threshold of 15 feet along east facing shores by tomorrow,
Elsewhere, a big out-of -season south swell will arrive late Sunday. The surf produced by this swell may be near advisory levels along south-facing shores early next week.
