Residents to get hit with higher property values

Advertiser Staff

Honolulu property values kept climbing again this year and residents will learn how much as city officials today mail assessment notices to owners reflecting an average residential islandwide increase of about 15 percent, including single-family homes and apartments.

That's less than last year's 26 percent but still another year of double-digit increases coming after seven years of growth that have sent tax bills soaring and set residents to complaining.

Property owners can expect to receive their notices in the mail beginning today but those with computer access can check their own property at www.honolulupropertytax.com

City officials released the zone by zone averages for all of O'ahu at noon today.
