Two indictments in 1977 Mo'ili'ili bakery murder case

Advertiser Staff

Two men were indicted by an O'ahu grand jury yesterday for allegedly shooting a Mo'ili'ili bakery store owner to death 29 years ago.

Melvin Kumukau and Aaron Meyer were each indicted on a single count of first-degree murder for allegedly shooting Toshio Kawano several times during a botched robbery at the bakery on Sept. 26, 1977.

There were no eye witnesses to the shooting and the case remained unsolved for nearly three decades.
