Associated Press

Janevia Taylor had 21 points and seven rebounds to lead Hawaii to a 71-68 overtime victory over Evansville in the opening round of the Paradise Classic Friday night.

Taylor also had four of the seven points in the extra period.

Pam Tambini had 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Rainbow Wahine (5-4). Brittany Grice also had a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards.

Taylor sank two free throws to give Hawaii a 64-61 lead with 1:08 left in regulation. But Evansville tied it up with three free throws, but Robyn Jennings missed the potential game winner with 26 seconds left to send the game to overtime.

Rebekah Parker and Ashli Senff each had 18 points for Evansville (5-4).

The Rainbow Wahine will play Chattanooga Saturday afternoon's championship game. Chattanooga (5-4) defeated Portland State (2-7) earlier Friday 81-61.

Evansville will play Portland State in the consolation game.
