The Dec 15, 1885, Pacific Commercial Advertiser reported on a visit to Lahaina by King Kalakaua and Queen Kapi'olani.

1941: The Advertiser reports at least 29 enemy planes were shot down in the Dec. 7 attack.

1965: Gemini space capsules 6 and 7 meet directly over Kaua'i, and the communication between the astronauts on board the two space capsules is monitored by the Koke'e Tracking Station.

1971: A State Prison inmate is shot and two guards are hurt when seven maximum security prisoners rush five guards and try to break out.

1978: The Advertiser reports that a University of Hawai'i committee says it has found irrefutable evidence that intelligence activities have been directed at certain foreign students at the university and the East-West Center.
