High surf advisory posted for eastern shores
Advertiser Staff
The National Weather Service issued a high-surf advisory for the east-facing shores across the state.
The advisory, issued at 4:01 a.m. today, said a high-pressure system far to the northeast of the state was continuing to generate large surf along the eastern shores of all islands.
The high surf is likely to continue through tomorrow, the Weather Service said. Surf of 8 to 10 feet, with very rough conditions, was expected along east-facing shores today.
Beachgoers are urged to stay out of the water and well away from the shore break due to the hazardous wave action and strong rip currents.
