Hawai'i top holiday getaway for Southern Californians

Hawai'i is the top destination for Southern Californians who are making vacation getaways during the Christmas-New Year's holiday, according to an Automobile Club of Southern California survey.About 840,000 Southern California residents are expected to head to the airport to start their vacations, or about 2.7 percent more than last year, the auto club said in a news release.
It said about 1.4 people in Northern and Southern California are expected to travel by air for their holiday vacations. About 7 million will travel by car, while 440,000 will go by bus, train or cruise ship.
