Whiting posts triple-double in Chaminade's 92-50 win

Zack Whiting had his fourth triple-double of the season as Chaminade pummeled Presentation College (Aberdeen, S.D.), 92-50, yesterday in a men's basketball game at McCabe Gym.

Whiting amassed 19 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists while playing 27 minutes for the Silverswords (5-4), who jumped to a 7-2 lead and were never threatened.

Chaminade reserve Mike Green hit 7 of 8 from 3-point range to finish with a game-high 21 points.

He actually hit his first seven 3-pointers before an attempt with the shot clock about to expire missed.

Stewart Kussler added 17 points for the Silverswords, who shot 63 percent (19 for 30) in the first half en route to a 51-33 lead at intermission.

Michael Heim led the Saints (3-2) with 15 points and Danny Kurtz added 12.

Chaminade hosts Central College on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

CENTRAL WASHINGTON TOPS CU WOMEN, 68-47

Elyse Mengarelli scored 17 points to help Central Washington defeat Chaminade, 68-47, yesterday in a women's game at McCabe Gym.

Brandie Bounds and Laura Wright each added 11 points for the Wildcats (8-1).

Simrin Cummins scored 16 points and Katherine Carlisle 13 for the Silverswords (1-5).

Chaminade will play national power Holy Family tomorrow at the McKinley High gym at 4 p.m.
