Lycos.com targets Obama, Wie and 'Lost' in 2007

Advertiser Staff

Lycos.com has released its annual list of the top 50 search terms for 2006 — and its projection for what will be the Internet's top search items in 2007.

This year, poker dominated the search engine, according to 50.lycos.com/.

MySpace, RuneScape, Pamela Anderson and Paris Hilton rounded out the top five search items for the year.

Using this year's search requests to come up with a projected list for 2007, Lycos.com projects some hot topics to be Punahou graduate and U.S. Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois, teen golfer Michelle Wie, who will be a senior at Punahou, and ABC's hit TV show "Lost," which is shot on O'ahu.

Others search terms predicted to be hot topics are Hillary Clinton, illegal immigration, global warming, bird flu and stem cell research.

A complete list of the Lycos 50 for 2006 and its 2007 projections can be found at 50.lycos.com.
