This January, Motown legends The Temptations join Maestro Matt Catingub and the Honolulu Symphony Pops for concerts at Honolulu's Blaisdell Concert Hall. In response to strong ticket sales, the Symphony has added a third concert on Jan. 18, in addition to concerts on Jan. 19 and Jan. 20.

Catingub and the Pops orchestra are gearing up for three nights with the "Emperors of Soul" that promise to be packed with Temptations hits such as as "My Girl," "Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me)" and "Ain't too Proud to Beg."

The Temptations' Hawai'i concerts include original founding member, Otis Williams, and long-time members Terry Weeks, G.C. Cameron, Ron Tyson and Joe Herndon.

Combining elements of rhythm & blues to funk, soul, gospel, doo-wop and disco, The Temptations are considered American masters of song. Widely recognized as one of the most influential and successful vocal groups in American music history, the quintet has a string of hits that began in the 1960s. Their chart-topping, Grammy-Award-winning history includes more than 100 R&B and pop music hit singles. The Temptations' unique harmonies and synchronizations, as well as their inimitable showmanship, propelled songs such as "The Way You Do the Things You Do," "You're My Everything," "I Wish It Would Rain," "Ball of Confusion," "Cloud Nine," "Treat Her Like a Lady," "I Could Never Love Another (After Loving You)," "Stay," and "Papa Was a Rolling Stone" up the charts. Formed in 1961, The Temptations were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989.

The concert is sponsored by Hilo Hattie's and Hawaii Business Magazine.
