KGMB's 10 p.m. newscast has bypassed KHON's program for the No. 1 slot in the latest Nielsen TV ratings, just out.
KGMB, the CBS affiliate, logged a 10 rating, meaning that 10 percent of households in the market were watching. That was up from 9 a year ago. Meanwhile, KHON, the Fox station, slipped from 9 to 8 in late-night news.
Rick Blangiardi, general manager of KGMB, gave some credit for KGMB's late-night win to the program's Severe Weather Station content.
KGMB's weeknight anchors are Kim Gennaula and Keahi Tucker, while Joe Moore anchors the 10 p.m. news for KHON.
Moore remains a viewer magnet, and his 6 p.m. KHON newscast earned a 14 rating, up from 13 a year ago.
Moore also anchors the sole locally produced world-news program at 5:30 p.m., and in this time slot, he also led the pack with an 8 rating, up from 7.
The "CBS Evening News with Katie Couric" tied with ABC's program, anchored by Charles Gibson, with a 6 rating, up from 5. NBC's show with Brian Williams was flat, with a 3 rating.
"It's overall pretty good for us," said Blangiardi, who managed both KHON and KGMB when the stations had a single owner.
The November sweeps, when the ratings are calculated, cover the period between Nov. 2 and Nov. 29. Ratings are also determined in February and May, with stations setting advertising rates depending on their market standing.
