Big Island police arrest 34 for DUI in one-week span

Thirty-four people were arrested for drunk driving on the Big Island from Dec. 12 to Dec. 18, Hawai'i police said.Of the 34, 12 were involved in traffic crashes and one was under the age of 21.
Big Island police said they have made 1,213 DUI arrests in 2006 compared with 983 during the same period last year, an increase of 23 percent.
