1932: The Capitol market opens at Richards and Queen streets. The Advertiser reported it was the first shopping center in Hawai'i to offer ample and easily accessible parking.
1934: A new Community Theater is organized in Honolulu. It was a reorganization of the Footlights, which had formed in 1915; it is now Diamond Head Theatre. The Advertiser reported that the reorganized group planned to put on "The Mikado" as its first major enterprise.
1969: Pan American World Airways shows off its new Boeing 747 jumbo jet. It was the 747's Island debut.
1974: The state land use commission approves Campbell Estate's request for urban zoning on 945 aces of sugar cane land at 'Ewa Town and One'ula.
1985: Hawai'i's first in vitro fertilization baby is born a girl weighing 7 pounds, 1 1/2 ounces and measuring 19› inches long.
1997: The justices of the Hawai'i Supreme Court remove themselves from the century-old process of appointing trustees to oversee Bishop Estate.
