High surf advisory in effect for north, west shores

Advertiser Staff

A high surf advisory will be in effect through 2 p.m. Sunday for north- and west-facing shores, the National Weather Service said.

A series of large northwest swells is expected to maintain surf heights at or above the high surf advisory threshold through Monday. Surf heights are expected to subside below advisory levels along north-facing shores by Tuesday.

Today's surf forecast calls for surf 10 to 15 early and increasing to 18 to 24 feet.

Surf along west-facing shores will increase to heights of 6 to 10 feet early this morning and 10 to 18 feet later in the day.

Southern shores will see surf 3 to 4 feet early, decreasing to heights of 2 to 3 feet by the afternoon, and east-facing shores will see surf 3 to 5 feet early and 2 to 4 feet by the afternoon.
