High surf advisory through Monday afternoon

Advertiser Staff

A high surf advisory for north and west shores has been extended until 3 p.m. Monday, the National Weather Service said.

Surf on the North Shore will be 15 to 20 feet early this morning before dipping to 10 to 15 feet.

West shores will see surf 10 to 15 feet, but it will lower to 6 to 10 feet.

Surf along south-facing shores will be 2 to 3 feet, and east-facing shores will see surf 2 to 4 feet.

A series of northwest swells is keeping surf heights at or above the high surf advisory threshold along northern shores.

The current swell will slowly subside on Friday but will be reinforced by another Friday night. Surf will fall below advisory levels late Christmas day or Tuesday, but another large northwest swell is due Tuesday night.
