Advertiser Staff

Hawai'i-Hilo leading scorer Michael Martin has been dismissed from the men's basketball team due to conduct detrimental to the team, the school announced yesterday.

Martin, a 6-foot-7 junior center who transferred from West Los Angeles College, averaged 17.1 points and 7.3 rebounds over nine games in his first season for the Vulcans (3-7).

UH-Hilo coach Jeff Law declined to elaborate on Martin's dismissal. He said Martin's scholarship will be honored for the remainder of the year.
