PU'U WA'AWA'A SERVICE TRIP — Sierra Club is organizing two volunteer trips to Pu'u Wa'awa'a on the Big Island Feb. 3-10 and March 24-31. Activities include planting, invasive species control, fence repair, and hiking in forest bird sanctuary. Limited to 12 people; must be Sierra Club member. CHRISTMAS BIRD COUNT — Hawai'i Audubon Society's annual Christmas bird count; $5 donation requested, children free. Participants will receive copy of 2006 American Birds Christmas Bird Count issue. ALA WAI CLEANUP — Sierra Club for cleans up Ala Wai Small Boat Harbor on Jan. 6. Meet at 8 a.m. at the harbor master's office. Bring sturdy shoes, hat, thick rubber gloves, sunscreen, water; participants under age 18 must have waiver. Call Deborah Blair at 955-4168.

MANOA GUIDES — Volunteer guides needed for garden and heiau tours at Manoa Heritage Center. Mandatory training sessions start Jan. 20; call Susan Lessa at 988-1287.

RESTORE WILD PLACES — Ka'ala Farm Inc. is seeking groups to assist in floral restoration of five west O'ahu sites — in Kalaeloa, Nanakuli, Wai'anae, Makaha and Makua. Groups should be willing to commit to two to 12 volunteer days a year. Contact Bruce Koebele at 696-4954 or holopono@pixi.com.
