Surf decreases today, but could reach 25 feet Thursday

Advertiser Staff

A small north swell is expected to reach the islands tomorrow ahead of large northwest swell due to arrive Thursday, National Weather Service forecasters said.

The northwest swell will bump the surf up significantly to near the warning level of 25 feet for the north facing shores of O'ahu. The west side of Oĉahu will have advisory level surf of 12 feet or more. The swell is expected to peak late Thursday then gradually subside Friday and through the weekend.

Today, surf along north-facing shores will be 5 to 8 feet, west-facing shores will see surf 3 to 6 feet, south-facing shores will see surf 1 to 3 feet and east-facing shores will see surf 2 to 4 feet.
